Islamic Months

Al Muharram is the Beginning month of the lunar Islamic calendar and is also included in the four sacred months.It is the second holiest month as the after Ramadan. The word Muharram means forbidden and as its a Holy month so Muslims usually seek forgiveness and do much prayers in this sacred month

Safar comes after the month of Muharram (First month of Islamic calendar) and is known as the month of calamities. The meaning of word Safar is void or vacate which resemble the time before Islam when people are out of their houses in search of food. Another meaning of this word is whistle or whistling of the wind which shows the weather condition

The third month of the Islamic calendar is Rabi ul Awal. It is a month of blessings and beneficiance. The word Rabi describes the season spring because when it was being named, the season was spring. Al awal means first

Rabi ul Thani is the Fourth month of Hijri calendar and it comes after Rabi ul Awal. This month is also known as Rabi ul Akhir. If we go for the exact meaning of this word than it means the second month of spring (the first one is Rabi ul Awal).

Among the twelve blessed Islamic months, Jammad ul Awal is the fifth one. The word Jammad means dry, arid or rainless so we can say that wilted and shrivelled land mark it as a dry month.

This month is also known as Jammad ul Akhir and it is the sixth month of Islamic calendar. The word Jumada signifies dry and reconstructed land, the land that lacks rain.

Seventh month of Hijri calendar is Rajab. This is a part of the four sacred months. The beautiful Arabic verb Rajaba means to respect, that could also mean be in fear. Rajab is the derivative of this. Any kind of warfare or bloody activities are forbidden during this month

Shaban appears as the eighth month in the Islamic calendar. We can also call it the second month of worship as we make arrangements for the upcoming blessed and magnificent month of Ramadan.
